TREEHOTEL

A very Unique Stay in Swedish Lapland

Ever slept in a treehouse? Not just any treehouse—but one suspended high in the Arctic wilderness, designed by world-famous architects?

That’s Treehotel in Sweden—where luxury meets imagination, and where every room is like stepping into a different dream.

We drove in from Finland to Harads in Sweden on a stunning sunny day, with everything around us covered in a blanket of snow but the sun shining bright.

Checking In: The Cozy Guesthouse 🗝️🔥

Our first stop was The Guesthouse, where check-in feels less like a hotel and more like arriving at an old friend’s countryside retreat. Cozy, welcoming, no fuss—just a hot cup of coffee, a crackling fireplace, and a warm “Glad to have you here.”

Then it was time to head up into the trees…

The 7th Room: A Treehouse in the Sky

Our first night? We spent it 10 meters above the ground in the 7th Room—one of the most unreal places we’ve ever stayed. This masterpiece is designed by Snøhetta, Norway.

Picture this: floor-to-ceiling windows, a transparent section of the floor looking straight down at the snowy forest, and a view stretching over the frozen Lule River valley. It’s like floating in mid-air, with the Arctic wilderness right at your doorstep (or, well… treetop).

The inside is Scandinavian simplicity done right. Warm wood, soft lighting, and a fireplace that makes you want to curl up with a book and never leave.

And then—boom, the Northern Lights. No stepping outside, no freezing in the cold—just lying in bed, and watching the green and purple swirls dance above us. Now that’s what I call a room with a view.

Locals Swedish delicacies at The Guesthouse

The best part about Treehotel’s restaurant? It doesn’t feel like a restaurant. It feels like someone’s home, where the food is made with heart and the portions say, “Go ahead, have another bite.”

Dinner was pure Lapland on a plate—locally sourced ingredients, wild game, Arctic fish, and berries straight from the forest. Every dish came with a little backstory, and the whole experience felt warm, intimate, and effortlessly good.

The next morning? A breakfast spread that hits the spot. Fresh bread and croissant, coffee, eggs, local jams—exactly what you need before another day in the trees.

The TreeRooms

Walking around and exploring all the TreeRooms was the best part– UFO, Bird’s Nest, Biosphere, 7th Room, Blue Cone, Dragonfly, Mirror cube and The Cabin. Each room is a unique piece of art, blending into nature while offering a one-of-a-kind stay. It’s like living in an architectural dream.

The Cabin: Cozy, Minimal, Perfect for Two

For our second night, we swapped sky-high views for a tucked-away retreat: The Cabin.

Designed by Cyrén & Cyrén in 2010, It’s only accessible by a little bridge through the trees, which makes stepping inside feel like entering your own private world. It’s just you, nature, and a view that stretches forever. The space is simple but well thought out—a double bed, an incineration toilet, a water dispenser—just the essentials, but done right.

We spent the afternoon on the wooden rooftop deck, sipping tea and listening to the absolute silence of the Arctic. No cars, no city noise—just birds and squirrels as our only neighbors, the wind moving through the trees, and that deep, calming stillness you only find in places like this.

The Cabin is the kind of place where you slow down, breathe, and just exist.

The Biosphere: Sleeping Inside a Living Work of Art

For our final night, we moved into Treehotel’s wildest creation yet—the Biosphere.

Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) in 2022, the entire structure is covered in 350 birdhouses, making it feel less like a hotel room and more like a part of the forest itself. This room is a testament to eco-conscious living that brings you face-to-face with the vibrant birdlife of the area.

Inside, the contrast is sharp—the walls are dark and moody, which means when you look out the massive windows, the forest glows even brighter. It’s immersive in a way that’s hard to describe—like the outside world is part of the room itself.

The inclusion of an eco-shower, sauna, and tap water emphasizes the commitment to sustainability, while the roof terrace (accessible during snow-free months) offers an additional space to connect with the outdoors.

Why Treehotel is Next-Level ?

Here’s the thing about Treehotel—it’s not just a place to sleep. It’s an experience. Whichever room you pick, you’re getting something unforgettable.

Treehotel isn’t about flashy luxury—it’s about design, nature, and those rare, perfect moments where you realize, “Wow. This is something special.”
